PROF. SHIN KUE RYU

Dr. Ryu is currently a tenured Associate Professor of Political Science at Idaho State University.  His teaching specialties are comparative politics and public administration.  He teaches the two sub-fields at both the undergraduate and graduate levels at the University.

His research expertise is in international development, particularly refining our understanding on why we have such wide variation in access to essential public services such as improved water and sanitation access.  (He received the doctoral student award from the George Mason University's Schar School for his study.)

Dr. Ryu's research builds on the insight from his previous work experiences at the World Bank and as a principal researcher for WaterAid.  He worked as a Mergers & Acquisition investment banker.  He also served in the military working on humanitarian and reconstruction projects in Iraq.  A bit unique on his CV is his publications in nuclear chemistry, as he was a part of the research team at Washington University that built the H.E.R.C.U.L.E.S. device that fits within the Gammasphere.

Domestically, Dr. Ryu is involved in the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare grant to promote health equity in the County.  He is involved in multitude of local government planning projects with emphasis on land use.
